According to the "Ministerio do Trabalho", the number of companies or individuals on the so called "dirty list" has increased, with slave work (or employment conditions similar to slave employment) increasing in rural Brazil, with sugar cane as a designated case. This surely won't help the sector which has been facing supply shortages and claims ambitious objectives to "mechanise" cane cutting operations in Sao Paulo state.
